SUMMARY:Cambridge\, MA: Harvest Co-op
DESCRIPTION:Harvest Co-op\nHarvest Co-op will screen the film at 5:30 Thursday\, Oct. 13th at the Central Square Branch of Cambridge Public Library. \nHarvest Co-op is nestled in the heart of Central Square\, at 580 Massachusetts Ave. It’s one flight up from the original location of the Cambridge Food Co-op\, started in the basement in 1974. We spent many years across the street at 581 Massachusetts Ave\, until the fall of 2012 when we relocated to the current space. \nCentral Square is one of the 19 Massachusetts Cultural Districts. Central Square is home to a mix of small\, funky independently-owned shops and creative start-ups\, along with larger\, well-established businesses. \nAll around the country\, we are seeing a new “third wave” of new food co-ops starting up. The first wave came out of the depression\, the second – which BFC and CFC were part of – came out of the environmental movement of the late 60’s and early 70’s. This third wave is built on community control and anti-corporate ideals. \nWe want to continue to have a community owned co-op we can call our own\, so we need you to continue to shop here\, get your friends and neighbors to shop here\, and be ambassadors to the community. We can do it\, but that we includes YOU. \n \n \nThis program is funded in part by Mass Humanities\, which receives support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and is an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
